Atlantis scheduled proposal presentations for the Paul Kintz Park rebuild

Atlantis’s RFP 26.01 set out a full rebuild for Paul Kintz Memorial Park, asking contractors to demolish the community building and remove pavement, sidewalks, the basketball court, splash-pad area, pavilion, and playground equipment before constructing a new center and redeveloping the surrounding park.

The city’s July 22, 2026 deadline called for bids from qualified contractors. The scope makes site preparation, debris disposal, restoration, permitting, and coordination part of the contractor’s work, with the stated aim of modernizing the park and improving access.

The city’s agenda page then listed a September 24 bid-selection committee session for Kintz Park renovation presentations. That is the latest milestone confirmed by the linked public records; they do not announce an award or construction start.

A sink repair sent 11 JFK Hospital patients away from the ICU during a small fire

On December 1, 2023, a repair inside HCA Florida JFK Hospital turned into a fire response. Hospital staff told WPTV that workers using acetylene torches while fixing a sink ignited a small fire, then put it out with an extinguisher. Smoke haze reached part of the intensive-care unit, prompting the hospital to move about 11 patients to other areas.

Firefighters opened windows and broke several that would not open so they could clear the rooms. A West Palm Beach hazmat team also responded near the emergency ward. The department gave the all-clear, hospital operations resumed, and officials said nobody was hurt.

Atlantis was still negotiating a Military Trail boat and RV facility

A boat-and-RV storage facility was proposed for 5800 South Military Trail, a five-acre parcel Atlantis bought in 2023 beside the Palm Beach County Fire Station. In November 2025 the city was still negotiating a development agreement; by September 2026, Ordinance 507 had reached a second reading to rezone the 4.97-acre site from a voided planned-development designation to Commercial General.

That zoning item shows the proposal moving through land-use review, but the council agenda does not record the vote or establish a construction start. The city’s earlier newsletter described a low-traffic storage concept; the later agenda did not confirm a signed developer or final development agreement.

Atlantis explored several partners for the 66-acre Project Wings site

East of JFK Hospital along Congress Avenue, Project Wings covers a 66-acre site that Atlantis described as one of central Palm Beach County’s largest available parcels. In November 2025, the city manager said the project was expanding its scope and partnership discussions.

The possibilities listed ranged from hospital-related partners and a university to a branded hotel, Class A offices, and mixed residential and retail uses. They were options under review, not an adopted site plan. The update named no development partner or selected use, and it did not announce a construction schedule.

Atlantis warned that Sunset Park renovations would close the whole park

Sunset Park is more than a set of courts: the city lists tennis, a quarter-mile walking trail, parking, and public restrooms among its amenities. In January 2026, Atlantis warned that extensive renovations to the courts and building would require the entire park to close. The February newsletter repeated that the work was starting soon, while leaving the schedule open.

The notices do not name a contractor or spell out the repairs. Once crews take over the courts and building, a temporary restroom trailer could sit inside the fenced work area, away from the park’s closed trail and playing surfaces. Atlantis has not announced a reopening date.

Atlantis kept the Country Club and former Old Inn deal in due diligence

In late 2025, Atlantis was still working through due diligence on the Atlantis Country Club, describing the proposed acquisition as a complex process. The city manager said both parties were evaluating terms and planning carefully before moving ahead. The mayor’s January 2026 letter listed the club and former Old Inn property beside Lost City Golf Club among city priorities.

That leaves both properties in the realm of a possible acquisition. Atlantis has not announced a completed sale, future use, contractor, or renovation schedule, so the public record does not yet describe an approved building project.

Atlantis used a public workshop to map future water, sewer, and stormwater needs

Atlantis’s April 23, 2025 workshop brought the City Manager and Public Works Director together to review the utility system. The discussion covered water distribution, sanitary sewer, and stormwater, with the city describing it as a baseline assessment of the infrastructure that supports essential services.

The stated goal was to identify investments needed to maintain those services, including redundant infrastructure that could reduce the risk of system failure. The session gave the city a baseline for future decisions, but its May report still named no project site, contractor, or construction schedule.

Two fire-hydrant resolutions appeared on Atlantis’s September agenda

Atlantis’s September 16, 2026 council agenda placed two separate fire-hydrant items before the city: Resolution 26-31, “Fire Hydrants Agreement,” and Resolution 26-32, “Fire Hydrants Purchase.” The meeting followed that evening’s first budget hearing and Local Planning Agency session, giving council a distinct utility matter to consider.

By listing both titles, the agenda separates the agreement from the proposed purchase, though it does not identify a supplier or specify what will be bought. The one-page packet gives no hydrant count, price, or installation locations and does not record a vote, so it confirms council consideration rather than installed hydrants.
